Happy Memorial Day

I just want to take a minute to thank all the men and women who serve us every day….thanks guys!

Last week was a bit crazy with school ending for the year and the oldest one graduating from high school. Congrats Tony!! Our niece also graduated so the grandparents came up and we had a very nice dinner at a local family-style Italian restaurant….lots of yummy food was had by all. Hailey did pretty well with all the upheaval and not getting to bed till 10. I was a little worried about that one! Of course, we were still up bright and early the next morning thanks to our little alarm clock.

Ahhhhh….I can now say those relaxing days of summer have begun (well as relaxing as they can be with a toddler)! We spent the whole extended weekend off and on at the pool and cooking on the grill. Of course right now the kids are all about it….in a couple weeks we are going to have to start looking for other things to add to the repertoire. This isn’t always easy when you have these kinds of age ranges going on!

One great thing about living in the south is we get to enjoy those warm sunny days a lot longer throughout the year.

Zumba--rific!!

Ok, I think (for the time being) I have the child’s naps regular again. Ever since she hit the 1 year mark her naps have been cra----zy! She was a slave to her nap schedule before then….I knew exactly when she would want to do what…not anymore…but, I digress.

My whole point in the nap topic was that I can actually map out and plan to get things done. A perfect example is going to the gym again. I am bound and determined to get rid of the rest of the baby weight and get back into shape.

About six months ago I signed up for a thing at the gym called coach approach, which I figured would help motivate me on the days that I wouldn’t normally be quite so motivated on my own. It did, but it didn’t work! I did really well when I could pre-plan and predict Hailey’s schedule, but as soon as she got sick or went off schedule I got totally sidetracked. So obviously, since she turned 1 my attendance has been pathetic!

Not going to the gym will most certainly not help me in getting back in shape and back to my normal weight. Somewhere between two or three weeks ago I decided I was going to start going in the morning (the bug was fighting me on her morning naps anyways) so what was it going to hurt. I am happy to say it has been going very well! I have been to the gym 3 or 4 days a week in the last couple weeks and have tried some new group fitness classes as well.

Zumba is my favorite by far! I’ve never done any kind of dance or aerobics classes before, so I was a little hesitant at first. It is so much fun and you work up such a sweat that it is totally worth it! I’m starting my third week of Zumba and went 3 times last week. I’m hoping to do 4 this week.

Happy Mother's Day

I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing day. I was excited to not have to cook today…the hubs took me out to breakfast and then cooked dinner tonight! I’m taking the day off from writing and thought I’d give you guys a great mom poem…

Mother's Love
Her love is like
an island in life's ocean,
vast and wide
A peaceful, quiet shelter
From the wind, the rain, the tide.
'Tis bound on the north by Hope,
By Patience on the West,
By tender Counsel on the South
And on the East by Rest.
Above it like a beacon light
Shine Faith, and Truth, and Prayer;
And thro' the changing scenes of life
I find a haven there.

Slacker

I know, I know….I’m a slacker! I’m posting this a day later than normal. Who’d have thought that staying home with the baby can be so tiring? I ran my booty off all weekend trying to keep up with her (which would also explain the name of this blog)! She’s become quit the little speed demon (and my husband wondered why I baby proofed the whole downstairs).

Speaking of baby proofing; just today Hailey ran into the dining room and came back into the kitchen with outlet covers in hand (I think she can get those puppies out faster than I can). She’s been able to get them out for a while, but thank goodness she doesn’t normally mess with them. Obviously mommy isn’t allowed to do anything else when she’s up…or she’s looking for trouble in order to get my attention. I mentioned to my friend on the phone what she did and what did little missy do next…she went hunting around the downstairs to find more outlet covers to pull! I’m thinking it’s probably time to just take the ineffective outlet covers out. I would love to be able to put these expensive ones throughout the house, but with my luck she'd figure those out too!

On a brighter note, I think little bit is going to have a green thumb like her mommy…we went and got flowers for the flower pots by the front door and planted them on Saturday. She loved playing with the dirt and flower pots…the only problem was…she kept wanting to take the flowers back out! It’s so cute, every time I turn around she wants to go outside and look at the flowers. Just wait till mommy gets really motivated to work on those flower beds and then she’ll have all kinds of pretty flowers to look at!

Diaper Dice

I’m raising a little nudist…the child will not keep her clothes or diaper on. I do understand that she’s becoming more familiar when she is getting ready to go to the bathroom or when she’s just gone. The problem is, she wants that diaper off right then and there!

One time, I came into her room to find her doing downward dog to get those pants off….no lie!

I can’t even tell you all the things I’ve tried to keep her pants on when I lay her down for a nap or for the night. Just an example; putting her diaper on backwards, packing tape over the tabs (YES…I did it!) and my latest is having to staple both tabs down. I just recently had to do two staples on each tab to keep them on. (My only fear had been with the staples is they might scrape her, but the tabs are in a place where it’s been fine)

I love that she’s so darn smart to be able to figure these things out, but I’m about out of ideas on what else to do with her diapers. Y’all don’t even want to know about some of the messes I’ve come in to find….it is literally like rolling the dice in a game of craps!! (He, he)

If anyone has any other suggestions…I’m up for it!
